Clarisonic Skin Care: Is it for You?

As we indicate in our Seven Secrets for better eye skin care, cleansing is often overlooked as an important first step. We simply don’t do it often enough, thoroughly enough, or aren’t using the proper cleanser, etc.

Clarisonic skin care is a product device that acknowledges this and wants to help you get on track with more efficient cleansing with their “hard to misuse” tool.

What makeup you don’t get off with your regular cleanser, the clarisonic skin care device does by using “a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth skin. In 60 seconds a day, the clarisonic skin care micro-massage action device cleans more than twice as effectively as manual cleansing.”

Clarisonic skin care claims to offer a “safe, gentle and natural way to cleanse your skin without any harsh abrasion or chemicals.” However, we have found it to be a little harsh on people with sensitive skin and who are easily reddened.

With the few people we’ve talked to that have tried it, they’ve noticed increased skin softness and less dry, flaky skin as well as fewer breakouts. But we honestly feel that exfoliation without this device would be just as effective. We haven’t been told there’s any significant reduction of fine lines and wrinkles as a result of this product like it also claims.

So is the Clarisonic skin care device for you? If you do not have sensitive skin and have issues with getting all of your makeup off after a long night or are simply lackadaisical about washing your face, then this product would be great for you…we recommend using it once a week to start, seeing how your skin reacts, then upping it to once a day.

From our research and experience with eye skin care, sometimes too much exfoliation can be too much of a good thing and cause your skin more harm than good. So start out slowly with this one.
